How to Register and Update Digital Signature (DSC) on GST Portal

Digital Signature Certification is used for the identification for filing documents online. Digital Signature is equivalent to a normal handwritten signature. It contains identity which includes name, email, country, APNIC account name and the public key.DSC is mandatory for enrolment by Companies, Foreign Companies, Limited Liability Partnership. 

DSC can be directly obtained by Certifying Authorities (CAs) in India by filling the requisite application form, attaching supporting documents, and payment of specified fees. Certifying Authorities has been granted a license to issue a digital signature certificate under Section 24 of the Indian IT-Act 2000.

Process to get to register and update DSC on GST portal

  • Visit the website www.gst.gov.in
  • Go to EXISTING USER LOGIN. After it, login page will be displayed
  • Log in your account
  • The dashboard will appear.
  • Register/Update the DSC page will be displayed. In the PAN of Authorized Signatory drop-down list
  • Select the PAN of the authorized Signatory that is to be registered/updated.
  • Proceed and Select the certificate then click on Sign button.

How to change the password on GST portal?

  • Visit the website www.gst.gov.in
  • Go to EXISTING USER LOGIN. After it, login page will be displayed
  • Log in your account
  • The dashboard will appear.
  • Go to the Change Password link, on the top right-hand corner of the page.
  • Enter the old password that you used to login in the Old Password field,
  • Enter the New Password in the New password field, Enter a password of your choice that you will be using from next time onwards. The password should be of 8 to 15 characters (where the minimum length is 8 characters and the maximum length is 15 characters) which should comprise of at least one number, special character and letters (at least one upper and one lower case).
  • Re-enter password in Reconfirm Password field.
  • Click on Change Password.

DSC improves the Customer Relationship and modernise the system and keep you up to date. Need less paperwork. Indirect saving of time which is used for filing documents, rekeying data, searching for lost documents or tracking down a contract that’s been lost in the mail.
